The conception of Bella House Of Mel in 2015 incorporated my custom gift basket business, Bella Baskets 4 U into an online lifestyle boutique that provided a fashionable retail service to a wide spread customer base from the East Coast to the West Coast. Five years later, a pandemic hit and our economy was affected. 2020 allowed me to dig further into my creative element, regroup and explore some new ideas for my business. Post pandemic in 2021, my team and I started to shift our focus towards a different niche market. I wanted to continue to share what I love through a retail service that is INSPIRED BY THE LIVES OF OTHERS. I also wanted to share my creative side through a décor and design service that REFLECTS THE LIVES OF OTHERS. Due to my humanitarian nature, I also wanted a business that HELPS THE LIVES OF OTHERS. Inspiration, reflection and helping are the reasons why I named my company in honor of my late and youngest sister Melanie "Mel", who lived 29 years with Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T), a rare and fatal degenerative disease that attacks children and very young adults.
About my sister "Mel"... She was a beautiful, funny, faith driven and adventurous young woman who enjoyed family time, traveling and encouraging people around her! One of her favorite things to do was to shop for things that uplifted her spirit or others, whether it was something to wear or something that made her own living space stylish and enjoyable. Hence why she is the inspiration to my business. She touched the hearts of everyone and her appreciation of "life" inspired those that she met. These are reminders of what should be important to all of us today.
